The History of Block Builders

Block Builders is a general contractor that specializes in whole house renovations, major additions, and the building of custom homes. Our firm was established in 1990, and has been rated as one of the top remodeling firms in the country by Remodeling Magazine, a national publication for and about the industry. Block Builders is an active member of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) as well as NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). We have been honored with many local, regional and national awards.

President Anthony Paulos, a native Washingtonian, graduate of The Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, founded Block Builders in 1990. His involvement in the construction business began in 1983, and after working for other firms in the early years, he became convinced that the industry needed something different. Tony was determined to offer clients a first class level of service, integrity and reliability along with superior craftsmanship; thus breaking the mold of inconsistency and problems that still plagues the trade. This desire led to his decision to form a new company that would provide an alternative to clients who are looking for a builder that truly embraces a higher standard, and will go “the extra mile” to ensure a consistent level of quality and service.

Block Builders is licensed and insured in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Our firm has completed projects throughout the Washington, DC Metro area, including Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington, Potomac, Falls Church, Arlington, Great Falls, Vienna, Capitol Hill, Cleveland Park, as well as Baltimore and Annapolis.

Bi-weekly meetings and dependable on-going communication with the client and the architect during the process helps to keep everyone completely informed and up to date on the progress of the project. Our efficient scheduling and attention to even the smallest details allows us to deliver the finished product in a timely fashion and within the promised deadline.
